Death Has Been Destroyed

I enjoy using the SOAP (Scripture, Observation, Application, Prayer) method of Bible Study. Today’s chapters have some powerful truth:

S – “He has saved us and called us to a holy life—not because of anything we have done but because of his own purpose and grace. This grace was given us in Christ Jesus before the beginning of time, but has now been revealed through the appearing of our Savior, Christ Jesus, who has destroyed death and has brought life and immortality to light through the gospel.” 2 Timothy 1:9-10 (NIV)

O – What powerful truth in these two verses! He HAS saved us – a done deal not because we deserved it or did anything but just because of His own grace. He has called us to a holy life, a set apart life. He gave us this grace, this unmerited favor, this unearned pardon BEFORE the beginning of time. BEFORE creation! It was a done deal before He ever said “Let there be…” The truth was revealed when Jesus appeared on earth. Jesus came and destroyed death – He DESTROYED DEATH!

Isn’t that what every human being has wanted who was ever born?

He brought life and immortality – He brought the truth of eternal life to light when He lived out the gospel.

A – Death is not real. It has been destroyed. We are rescued. We are free. We just have to believe and trust Jesus. Death appears to be real. Death seems to have victory. But we have to look at what is unseen. We have to in faith believe that this enemy no longer has power. We may have temporary separation on earth but our loved ones in Christ will never die! This grace is found in Christ Jesus.

Someday we will see that this life was a mere second in all of eternity.

P – Thank you LORD God for saving my soul! Thank you for giving us grace before you even created the world! You are an amazing wonderful Father and God! I love you and I want you to have all of my heart and soul.
