We need a Savior

We are in such desperate need of a Savior! Why did Jesus come? All you have to do is look at the headlines. Just recently, unbelievably disgusting behavior was discovered in a nearby fraternity. To me, what is a true definition of the debauchery (corrupting others by sensuality or excessive indulgence in sensual pleasures) the Bible warns against. This is the human heart without God. We are so horrified when we read what the Nazi’s did to their fellow human beings. Unimagined horrors.  This is the human heart without God. People who “claim” to know God have also done great evil but God’s word says we know who his children are “by their fruits” not just by their words. The unredeemed human heart is “desperately wicked.” All we have to do is look in the newspaper or read the history books to know that is true. Just think of how many children in the world are suffering right now because of our sin. That is why Jesus came! We need a Savior! He came to redeem the human heart. To save us from our evil hearts. To give us the power to choose a different way. He lived the perfect life we can’t live. He died in our place. He took on the responsibility for every evil act including the ones the members of that fraternity did. He paid for it all. All we have to do is believe it, accept it and be willing to yield our will, our all to Him. Give it all to Him. Jesus is the only answer to the evil in our own hearts. Have mercy on us dear Lord Jesus Christ. Call on the name of the Lord and you will be saved.

“ That if you confess with your mouth ‘Jesus is Lord’ and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.”  Romans 10:9

Wonderful new book!

A Vote of Confidence is an enjoyable book to read and is very timely. It is a story about a woman who runs for mayor in a small Idaho town and if elected would be the first woman mayor in America. Although it is true that the first woman mayor in America was elected in Idaho (three years later than in this story), the character in this book is fictional. What a wonderful character Gwen is! She is beautiful, intelligent, and courageous. I love reading a story that is not only an enjoyable story to read but can also teach some history.  In light of the fact that we recently almost had the first woman candidate for President of the United States, it is interesting to read about Gwen who is seeking to be elected the first woman mayor. There is also romance, intrigue, humor and as always in books by Robin Lee Hatcher, spiritual inspiration. The main characters love God and want to please Him. This is something I can relate to. I also love the Health Spa Morgan is building in the book and I wish I could visit there! Another character in the book is Gwen’s fraternal twin, Cleo who is very different from Gwen. She is a great character and I can’t wait to read more about her in the next book. I am never disappointed in a book by Robin Lee Hatcher. I recommend A Vote of Confidence as a book to inspire, entertain and give a glimpse into the early 1900’s. The Sisters of Bethlehem Springs looks to be a great new series by this author. Again, the book is A Vote of Confidence by Robin Lee Hatcher published by Zondervan 2009. http://www.amazon.com/Vote-Confidence-Sisters-Bethlehem-Springs/dp/0310258057/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1238687909&sr=8-1
