Wholly Committed – Again

We are in week 3 of the Proverbs 31 online Bible Study, “What Happens When Women Say Yes to God.” This is my post for this week:

I have been a Christian for over 40 years. Wow…it seems like by now I would be super Christian. But, the truth is I have a tendency to drift away and God has to continually draw me back to Him. I have had times in my life when I was very close to Him and serving Him wholly but for various reasons over time I find myself back in my “comfort zone.” My comfort zone is going to church, reading the Bible, serving a little but also making sure I have plenty of time to do all the things I want and that I never really have to sacrifice too much. It would be nice if we could have a one time occasion of wholly committing ourselves to God and then it is settled for the rest of our lives here but it doesn’t work that way. We are human and we are like sheep. We have a tendency to get distracted, get tangled up in the bushes, wander off and sometimes just get stubborn and refuse to move. Our great Shepherd has to continually keep us moving in the right direction with His loving prods and gentle call. I want to once again give myself wholly to Him. I want Him to have all of me. I want to be ready to say “yes” to whatever He asks of me including letting go of my “comforts.” I am so thankful He loves me the way He does. I am so thankful for His infinite patience.

Father, I know you love me. Thank you for salvation through Jesus Christ my Lord. You know me. You know my heart. I confess that I have been stuck in my comfort zone. I haven’t wanted to leave it. Please help me let go. I want to be ready to say ‘yes” to whatever you ask. I want to live for you not myself. Please help me to hear you and give me the faith to willingly follow.

Thank God for sanctifying grace… grace of the Holy Spirit that continues to sustain us in our walk with Christ as we grow in His likeness. Thanks for sharing.

  4. Amen Melva! May God bless you as you continue the study.

Thank you for your honesty. I find myself beating myself up for being distracted, wandering off but am thankful for a loving Father who not only calls me back to HIm but places reminders like in the book & your blog today that we have to daily choose to remain in Him. Learning to let go & be willing to say Yes.
