On Call

As a substitute teacher, if I don’t have a scheduled job, I am on call (so I have to always be prepared). I can make plans but I never know for sure if I can carry them out. I was thinking about that this morning. I had plans for the day and I was wondering if I could follow through. (of course I could turn down a job but I wouldn’t get paid!) Then I thought that is a lot like all of our lives. We make our plans each day but we never know when we will be called home. We are all “on call.” The only question is, “Are we prepared for that?”

Bill and I have this on our mirror:
PLAN your life as if Jesus is returning to us in 10 years.
LIVE your life as if Jesus is returning to us in 10 minutes!
