Remembering who is in charge

With all the political debates going on, there is a lot of fear and trembling about who will get elected (on both sides). It will be the end of the world if …… gets elected. It is good to remember who is really in charge of all of this. These quotes from the Word of God help me:

“Praise be to the name of God for ever and ever; wisdom and power are His. He changes times and seasons; he sets up kings and deposes them.” (italics mine) Daniel 2:21

“Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God.” Romans 13:1

“…so that the living may know that the Most High is sovereign over the kingdoms of men and gives them to anyone he wishes and sets over them the lowliest of men.” Daniel 4:17(also verses 25, 32 and 5:21)

Jesus, in speaking to Pilate says, “You would have no power over me if it were not given to you from above.” John 19:11

Does that mean we shouldn’t pray, campaign, vote? Of course not. We should pray everyday for our authorities and the election. We should campaign and vote as our conscience leads us but then remember the outcome is in God’s hands. We don’t need to live in fear or act like all is lost if it turns out a certain way. God is still God. He is always the ultimate authority. We can trust His sovereign hand.

God is in control. We must always surrender to His will and have no fear because we belong to Him. Blessings, Betsy
